Open door in Turkey...
Having just returned from a few days' work in Ankara,
still with the scent of Turkey in my hair and heart,
I feel so grateful to have been given yet another
opportunity to experience the wonderful,
extraordinary Turkish hospitality...
Ankara is a big, bustling city,
with all the exotic sounds and smells of a capital far away from home.
A city of contrasts, where the ultra-modern shopping centres,
their Starbucks coffee shops and trendy fashion boutiques rub shoulders with
very different areas, areas with corrugated iron roofs,
horse-pulled carts and very basic dwellings.
This could easily turn in to a multi-page postcard from Turkey,
with passionate anecdotes about a people and a place I am so fond of...
But I will try to keep it short.
Instead, I will let the photos speak for themselves,
the following eight from my favourite part of Ankara,
the Kale (old castle) area - the Old Town.
Doors, doors, glorious doors...!
Will I surprise anyone if I reveal that one or two of the old wooden
bowls ended up in a certain Swenglish suitcase...?
(Inside Kocatepe Mosque, downtown.
Kocatepe Mosque can be seen in the second photo in this blog post.)
Just like this fluffy, four-legged friend I met on my stroll around the old town,
I find myself purring... inspired, grateful, re-energized.
Thank you, Turkey!
And thank you, dear readers, for visiting my blog and leaving kind comments,
despite my being so invisible on yours lately. I hope to come and see you soon...
