A successful jam session...

"- A blackcurrant bush might be nice", said the man in the house one day.
One was planted and it started growing, quietly minding its own business at the bottom of the Swenglish garden.

And then it grew some more.

"- Oh, the birds will take all the blackcurrants!", moaned the man with a concerned frown. So he 'netted', nurtured and sweet-talked the bush every day and every night.
And soon came the day when the frown was gone and replaced by sunshine and peacockian pride. That was the day we might hereafter refer to as B-Day, or Blackcurrants Gone Berserk' day.

The man in the house, a k a the appointed Baron of Blackcurrants, will have no leisure conundrums this summer. His first batch of home-made jam sits proudly on the kitchen worktop. What he aims to do with the remaining 85% of the crop, I shall be intrigued to see. I promise to give you a full report...
