D-Day...

Just to confuse us foreigners, different countries have decided to celebrate Father's day and Mother's day on completely different days. Here in the UK, for example, Mother's day is celebrated in March, and Father's day in June...

This year for Father's day, the boys and I went flower picking. Here, in an old olive oil bottle from our local deli, my youngest proudly thrust his handy little bouquet...

I, on the other hand, welcomed an excuse - ANY excuse - to make a small clover wreath. Or more like an Alice band to be honest, as I had not picked enough flowers to do the full circle...

My grandmother's old silver plate, the dome from a local second hand shop, some linen textiles, and...

- Tadaa! A Father's day surprise... What further surprises may be hiding under the dome...?

Sadly, not much could be found there, and sadly, the flowers were presented to Daddy a few days after the real D-Day, Daddy day, as we were away camping on the actual day and this camping-overwhelmed mother completely forgot about it all... But at least I came along on the camping trip, an - I believe - underrated gift in itself...
